6.3 magnitude earth quake hits Italy
Rome, Apr 6: An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 hit Central Italy on Monday, Apr 6 morning killing atleast 13 people and injuring hundreds. The death toll may rise. The epicenter of the quake was the historic centre of L"Aquila, where a number of people are still trapped under rubble.
The quake which struck at 3.32 am (0132 GMT) could be felt as far away as Rome, some 95 miles to the west, where it rattled furniture and set off car alarms. L"Aquila cathedral was also damaged.
The US Geological Survey initially reported the strength of the quake at 6.7 before lowering it to 6.3.
