Lahore seige: Baitullah Mehsud owns responsibility

Islamabad, Mar 31: The chief of Tehreek-i-Taliban in Pakistan, Baitullah Mehsud, on Tuesday, Mar 31 took responsibility for the deadly attack on the Lahore police training centre.

"Yes, we have carried out this attack. I will give details later," Mehsud, Taliban-linked leader based in Waziristan tribal region told foreign news agency by telephone.

Even Pakistan govt has blamed Taliban for involvement in the Mar 30 attack. Previously, Baitullah was also accused of murdering former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto. The US had offered a $5 million reward for information on Baitullah Mehsud in Feb.

Heavily armed gunmen on Monday, Mar 30 stormed a police academy near Lahore killing at least 27 policemen. The siege went on four eight hours with four terrorists being shot dead and six captured alive by security forces.

The attack comes less than a month after the attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.
