Musharraf says state carried out Lal Mosque operation
Islamabad, Mar. 30 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that the State carried out the Lal Mosque operation.
In July 2007, around Lal Masjid area of Islamabad, a confrontation between Islamic militants and Pakistan Government broke out.
"Only 93 people were killed in the operation," The News quoted Musharraf, as saying.
Speaking to reporters before leaving for China here, he said: "Pakistan is facing a grave threat of extremism and terrorism."
"We will have to deal with the menace of terrorism with full force," he added.
On the US backed drone attack, Musharraf said nobody should be allowed to launch cross-border strikes.
When asked to comment on the restoration of judges, he said it was the government's decision, and he didn't want to say anything on it. (ANI)
