Kolkata artists support wall graffiti despite ban by election commissions
Kolkata, Mar 30 (ANI): Despite a ban by the Election Commission of India on using wall graffiti as a medium of campaigning for the upcoming general elections, locals as well as artists in West Bengal support the cause.
The artists said they found their creative expression in it. Some of them take leave from their usual work to enjoy doing something creative with different colours.
"Drawing as been my passion since my childhood and now though I am working I find time for it and during elections I do this on the walls," said Pradip Goswami, a graffiti artist.
Residents felt it is an ideal medium for the political parties to spread their message across to a large number of people in the wake of current economic recession.
"I don't see any problem in this, because in the time of economic recession, political parties are trying to reduce the costing," said Chinmoy Das, a resident.
India will hold a five-phased general elections between April 16 and May 13, in which 714 million people will cast their votes to elect a new Central Government. By Ajitha Menon (ANI)
