Election Commission reviews poll preparations in Chattisgarh, Jharkhand
New Delhi, Mar 27 (ANI): A two-member team of the Election Commission (EC) headed by Naveen Chawla will visit Jharkhand and Chattisgarh today to review the poll preparedness for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Chawla, who would be accompanied by Deputy Election Commissioner J P Prakash, would meet representatives of all recognised political parties at the office of the CEO soon after his arrival in Raipur on Friday evening.
The Election Commission team would also visit Jharkhand.
The general elections in Jharkhand will take place in two phases. The first phase is scheduled on April 16 and the second phase on April 22 and 23.
In Chhattisgarh, the elections will be held in one phase.
Meanwhile, as many as 142 candidates filed their nominations on Thursday for the first phase polls.
The nominations for the first phase would continue till March 30, while scrutiny would be taken up on the next day.
Nominations could be withdrawn till April 2. (ANI)
