New York strip club invites Oz PM Rudd back
New York, Mar.26 (ANI): A New York strip club that Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd once visited in his youth, has invited him and his wife Therese Rein to a special dinner.
It maybe recalled that Rudd had admitted to doing an infamous pole-dance at the same club.
Rolling out the red carpet, the strip club formerly known as Scores has offered to entertain the VIP - and his wife - with dinner and a private room during his time in Manhattan.
"We'd love to have him come in. He could do dinner in a private room and we could ask the ladies to join him or, if he wants to bring them into a private room, we could accommodate that too," news.com.au quoted Sapphire Club owner Peter Feinstein, as saying.
The PM, in Washington this week, is due to meet with finance leaders in New York on Saturday
Scores, which had clubs on the east and west sides, was shuttered in December after its west side venue lost its liquor licence and the economic downturn began to bite.
The franchise had been among the highest-grossing strip clubs in the world, attracting guests including Madonna, Howard Stern and Russell Crowe.
Rudd's visit to the club made headlines in the run-up to the 2007 election when he admitted attending the venue after a heavy drinking session. The apologetic MP later said the toughest part was calling his wife Therese Rein the next day to admit he'd been "a bit of a goose".
She is accompanying him on his two-week trip around the US and UK. (ANI)
