Uttarakhand DGP asks police chiefs to gear up for elections
Dehradun, Mar 25 (ANI): The Uttarakhand Director General of Police Subash Joshi has asked police chiefs of all the districts to intensify the security ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Joshi communicated with police chiefs through a video conference and directed them to follow model code of conduct.
Joshi further asked them to ensure safety to pilgrims, as the Char Dham Yatra season would start next month.
He told them to take prompt action against the anti-social elements, keep a check on illegal liquor smuggling and ensure the surrender of arms by licence holders in their respective districts.
The 2009 general elections in Uttarakhand would happen in one phase, scheduled on May 13. (ANI)
