BJP criticises UPA govt. over IPL shift
New Delhi, Mar 22 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday criticized the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for 'forcing' the Indian Premier League (IPL) organisers to move the second edition of the tournament out of the country.
Jaitley also said that the shifting of the high profile Twenty20 tournament would put India on par with countries like Pakistan that are deemed unsafe.
The BJP leader further said that the matches in the first edition of the IPL last year were played in Bangalore despite Karnataka Assembly elections.
The BJP General Secretary stated that the decision to play IPL out of the country would signal the country unsafe for sports and even tourism. (ANI)
