Husain's work fetches Rs1.8 cr at Sotheby
New York, Mar 20: A painting by MF Husain showing two women has been sold at a Sotheby's auction for $374,500 (Rs 1.88 crore). The untitled oil and acrylic painting on canvas was created by Husain in the mid 1970s.
The auction saw a sale of Indian and Southeast Asian Art for a whopping $3,212,501 (Rs 16.12 cr). FN Souza"s untitled oil work depicting the twin themes of sex and religion brought $302,500 while Akbar Padamsee's untitled oil work of a nude woman went under the hammer for $242,500.
