Chidambaram assures additional security forces for Orissa during polls
Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Friday promised additional security forces to Orissa during Lok Sabha elections.
Chidambaram was here to review the security scenario in the state before the Lok Sabha elections.
He said the State Government should take extra care to check Maoist and communal activities in the state.
"I had a full and thorough review of security situation. State Government has asked for some more forces for the elections and I have promised to look into it. I hope everything will remain peaceful in Orissa especially in Kandhamal district. It is the duty of State Government to ensure the Maoist activities under control. For the elections we will try to provide adequate security forces so that elections will take place peacefully," Chidambaram said.
Later, Chidambaram in the course of his visit to Bangalore met top army and police officials to check out the internal security in the state.
"The central government proposes to set up hubs of the national security guard in different parts of the country. These hubs will be set up in four cities. Some others cities will be covered by trained anti-terrorist force provided by the defence forces. For example, Bangalore will be covered by the Army. In course of time, NSG hubs will be set up in more centres," Chidambaram said. (ANI)
