Azharuddin may contest from Meerut or Moradabad

Lucknow, Mar 20 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Congress committee (UPCC) President Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Friday said that former cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin could contest the Lok Sabha election from Meerut or Moradabad.

"Azhar has desired to contest from the state. We believe fielding him from Meerut or Moradabad will make a good impact," Bahuguna said.

She also said that the cricketer has pledged to campaign for the party in the state, even if he does not contest the polls.

Azhar will attend a rally of the party in Meerut on March 23.

Other celebrities like comedian Raju Srivastava and Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan are also likely to be the party nominees from UP's Jaunpur and Phoolpur constituencies. (ANI)
