3 JCOs, 2 soldiers found guilty in Sopore killings
Sopore, Mar 20: Three Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) and two soldiers of the Rashtriya Rifles will face action in connection with the Sopore killing, a defence personnel said on Friday, Mar 20. This follows a report of the a high-level army court of inquiry headed by a brigadier.
The army officials are taken to task for not cooperating with the civilian authorities, of which two army personnels have been found guilty. "The inquiry has held the junior commissioned officers and two soldiers of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, who were involved in the Bomai incident, accountable for various lapses," the spokesman said.
Mohammad Amin Tantray and Javid Ahmad were killed and another youth Firdous Ahmed was injured in the firing by the troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles. The killings had sparked off massive protests in the area.
