6 deaf and dumb girls raped in HP

Shimla, Mar 19: In a gruesome incident 6 students of a school for deaf and dumb were allegedly raped by teachers including the principal of the institution in Himachal Pradesh. The girls who were sexually abused for nearly a year are now shifted to Balika Ashram.

The institute, which was opened in 2004, is being run by an NGO, Prerna Welfare Association, at Tutu and has 27 inmates 22 boarders and five day scholars. It gets grants under the state-sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme.

Meanwhile Prem Kumar Dhumal, the Chief Minister has ordered an enquiry into the incident.
