Malegaon Blasts: Army to enquire Lt Col Purohit

Mumbai, Mar 18: A three-member Army team led by the brigadier-level will be inquiring the activities of the Lt. Col. SP Purohit arrested in connection with the Sep 29 Malegaon blasts.

"The inquiry is in the form of an internal audit that would identify and pinpoint the lapses and lacunae in the existing system to enable suitable measures to be instituted to prevent the recurrence of such incidents," an official statement issued by the Army stated.

The Army would run concurrent to the investigation already underway by the ATS. The custody of Lt. Col. Purohit had not been sought by the Army.
