HP Govt plans new ordinance on ragging

Shimla, Mar 16: The Himachal Pradesh Government is preparing to bring a new ordinance to check the ragging menace in the state after the death of a medical student, Aman Kachroo of RP Govt Medical College due to ragging.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal said that he has directed the Home Department to look into the same. The Chief Minster's Government has been facing criticisms after Aman Kachroo's death.

The matter came to light when the police booked four senior students of Tanda medical college in Kangra district initially under 304 of IPC (culpable homicide), which was later converted into 302 (murder) based on an autopsy report and on the ordinance brought by the then Shanta Kumar government in the state in 1992.
