Sherry Rehman resigns as Pak Information Minister

Islamabad, Mar 14: Close-aide of Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Information Minister, Sherry Rehman resigned from the post but media reports state that Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani has not accepted her resignation.

The reason for the resignation is due to differences over the government's handling of the media. The resignation came hours after Geo News, Pakistan's leading Urdu news channel claimed that it was removed from the cable network across the country.

Sources said that the news channel was removed after an order from the President, Asif Ali Zardari, but officials dismissed this claim.

Meanwhile, reports are stating that Zardari has revoked the Governor's rule in Punjab Province but is reluctant to reinstate sacked judges.
