NDA proposes to make multi-purpose ID cards mandatory
New Delhi, Mar. 14 (ANI): BJP leader L K Advani has said the NDA, if voted to power, would enact a law to make multi-purpose national identity cards mandatory for citizens to strengthen national security.
Unveiling the IT Vision Document of the party for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Advani said security was NDA's main concern for making national identity cards mandatory.
The leader of the opposition referred to the increasing infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals into the country, especially in the northeastern areas.
Stressing on the need of issuing multipurpose ID cards, he said that an estimated two crore Bangladeshi immigrants were illegally staying in the country.
Advani also noted that the Supreme Court had warned the UPA Government for not taking enough steps for tackling the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. (ANI)
