2 more deaths of Hep B in Guj; toll reaches 62

Ahmedabad, Mar 14: Two more deaths due to Hepatitis B have been reported in Sabarkanta district of North Gujarat, leading the number of death cases to 62, district officials said.

Chief District Health Officer H S Patel said that two deaths and three new cases of Hepatitis B have been reported. "Those dead are from Meghraj and Modasa talukas. Fresh cases have been reported from Modasa, Talod and Bayad talukas," Patel added.

The total number of people affected due to Hepatitis B till date are 244 and the number of deaths are reported to be 62.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), responsible for monitoring the safe disposal of biomedical waste, has made an appeal to the people of the State to report any act of unsafe disposal of biomedical waste.
