Ragging: AP engineering student attempts suicide
Hyderabad, Mar 13: A 20-year-old engineering student attempted suicide after being ragged by seniors in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, Mar 12. The victim, an agriculture engineering student of Government Agriculture Engineering College Baptla was physically abused by her seniors and was forced to do strip dance as part of ragging.
After the incident the girl allegedly consumed a hairdye solution and collapsed. She was soon taken to hospital and is now out of danger. The girls' father confirmed the incident and said that she had been complaining of ragging since the day she joined the college. Once out of danger and gained conscious the victim narrated the entire incident to her parents and pleaded them not to complain as she feared it will effect her academics. Though she has identified the seniors who tortured her, police is yet to file a case.
The is the second incident of ragging reported in a week. Aman Kachroo, a 19-year-old medical student was beaten to death by his seniors in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, Mar 8. It seems there is no end to this menace of ragging even after imposing strict law against it.
