Manmohan Singh greets Urdu school children
New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said that the country cannot prosper until the women of the country progress and girls are given equal opportunities to study in schools and colleges.
Greeting the girls from the Urdu medium schools of Delhi on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, Dr. Singh said that the constitution gives full freedom to the people to practice any religion of their choice, but it does not give anyone the license to criticize or run down other religions.
He expressed satisfaction over the good results of the Urdu medium schools, saying that Urdu language is a living example of our Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb.
The Prime Minister said that the government has done much to promote Urdu, and assured that it would continue do all that is necessary to promote the language.
The students, accompanied by their school teachers, also sang poems and songs in front of Singh and his wife, Gursharan Kaur. (ANI)
