Police arrest Bangalore serial blast suspect
Bangalore, Mar 8 (ANI): Bangalore police produced a suspect involved in the July 2008 serial blasts in the city, which killed one woman and injured 15 others, before reporters on Saturday.
With the arrest of 31-year-old Sarfaraz Nawaz, the number of those arrested in connection with the case has gone up to 10.
Officials said Nawas was an activist of the banned Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Nawaz, a resident of Ernakulum, in Kerala was arrested on February 27.
Police said that he had arranged funds for those carrying out the blasts and also did a reconnaissance of the city.
"He has also revealed names of many more persons involved in the Bangalore blast and efforts to arrest them are in progress.
During the course of investigations, it is also revealed that this group of persons also intended to harm eminent scientists of the country by lodging physical harm to them," said Shankar Bidari, Police Commissioner of Bangalore.
The serial blast had struck terror in Bangalore. (ANI)
