Gujarat businessmen bust preparing campaign material for impending polls

Ahmedabad, Mar 8 (ANI): The elections are different things for different people. For politicians, it is matter of renewing their faith among the people. For electorates, it is time to humble the hard-nosed politicians. The businessmen have however uncanny acumen to make money out of it.

People associated with the poll business are burning midnight lamps to prepare campaign material in Gujarat.

Ahmedabad is known for making cheap elections material like flags, banners, poster, bunters, and hoardings. It is favourite destination for the political parties across the country for election material.

About 2000 families are dependent on it for their livelihood. Although hundreds of workers started working two months ago, they admitted that the recession had affected their business by 40 -50 per cent this year.

"Last time during the Lok Sabha elections, work started here six months prior to elections. This year, work started two months before the elections. This itself shows that recession has affected our trade. I believe the trade has affected about 40-50 per cent due to recession this year," said Babu Bhai, owner of a processing unit.

People associated with the campaign material informed that political parties from all across the country get their material from Ahmedabad because it is good quality work at cheap prices.

"The work is going on full pace here. For these elections, for the 545 seats, there are other states as well who make election material apart from Ahmedabad. But it's only Ahmedabad that can provide best work with good quality and large quantity," said Abuji Kucherawala, owner of another processing unit.

People associated with the trade added that it's like a festival in the city for whom the dance of democracy has brought a ray of hope for their small business during recession. By Ami Sharma(ANI)
