Imphal, March 4 (ANI): The National Socialist Council of Nagaland -- Isak-Muivah or NSCN (IM) has admitted that one of its senior cadres was responsible for the killing of sub-divisional officer Dr. Thingnam Kishan and his two staffers in Ukhrul district.

Normal life in Manipur was affected for days as people protested against the killings.

The incident had raised big uproar among residents, as they wanted an end to violence and environment of terror.

According to an NSCN-IM press statement, H. Ningshen of the Kiusumong battalion was the brain behind the brutal killings.

The brutal killing of Kasom Khullen SDO Dr. Thingnam Kishan and two of his co-workers by NSCN (IM) was strongly condemned by the people in its own stronghold.

In Ukhrul district, a mass protest rally was organized by Tangkhul social organizations in an effort to promote peace.

Thousand of students and residents carried placards as protest that read slogans like, "Our solidarity and sympathy to the bereaved family", "We condemn the murder of Dr. Th Kishan and two staff".

"So far most the militants group are not doing much good to the people. Infact I would say that they are disturbing the normal life of the people by creating disturbances like kidnapping, corruption and killings," said N. Everest Luikham, one member of the Organising Committee

"Their doing has made us very sorry. We do not want these things to happen again and again," said Wormichon, local resident in Imphal

"The recent killing by the NSCN-IM is very inhuman, so the government should take immediate action to find the culprits and punish them," said Ramani Devi, local resident.

"As the issue has become people's issue, there is a fear of communal clashes; we want to prevent the clashes. We want co-existence between the hills and valley peoples," said Biren Singh, another resident.

Recently, a torch rally was also organised against under the aegis of the All Chajing Clubs' Organisation, Imphal.

Thousands of people came out to express their anguish over mindless killings and environment of terror in different parts of Manipur.

"Now it has gone beyond tolerable limits. Now it has become unbearable for us. We have tolerated it long enough. On one hand we should applaud the courage of Kishan and his two subordinates. I don't know what to say, I feel very sad," said Devala Devi, local resident.

Moreover, Manipur Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh recently stated that the government had already ordered a probe into the case and strict action would be taken against the culprits.

O. Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister, Manipur, said: "Those who are involved in such heinous crime, we will not spare them. Be it any underground outfit, NSCN (IM) or (K) or any other faction be it from the hill, or valley, they will not be spared. We will book them and rightful action will be seriously taken against them." (ANI)
