No common symbol for Chiru's Prajarajyam: EC

Hyderabad, Mar 2: The Election Commission of India reportedly rejected Tollywood Megastar Chiranjeevi's Prajarajyam party's (PRP) request for a common election symbol. PRP asked for a common symbol on the ground that it has not contested even a single election so far.

CEC's decision came after the Andhra Pradesh High Court asked it to reconsider its earlier decision of not allotting any common symbol to a new party. Prajarajyam which was launched in Aug, 2008 requested for 'Rail Engine' as its common symbol to contest in Lok Sabha polls and State Assembly polls.

The party leaders are in search of a regional party with a suitable symbol to share it as an ally. Sharad Pawar's National Congress Party (NCP) has already offered to share its 'clock' symbol with Prajarajyam. The party which was keen to get the 'Rail Engine' had even prepared some election material keeping in view the symbol.
