Couple weds in hot air balloon

Lucknow, Feb 27: Marriages are made in heaven, it is said and this married couple were close to heaven as they tied the knot in a hot air balloon 100 meters above the ground.

A Lucknow based couple exchanged their vows on Thursday, Feb 26 evening in a hot air balloon in front of guests and media persons. The balloon took off at 10.20 pm at the Ramlia ground in Aishbagh locality.

Private bank employee Dev Prashant Trivedi tied knot with Etah girl Archana as closed circuit TVs captured the action for those on the ground. They watched the moment on LCD projectors.

The hot air balloon carried the pilot, the couple and a priest, who not only solemnised the wedding but also filmed it with a video camera.

"As I always wanted to make my marriage a memorable event, the idea of tying the knot in the air came to mind," Prashant said.

The first hot air balloon wedding in Uttar Pradesh cost the newly weds around Rs 80,000.
