Pakistan rejects claim of Osama Bin Laden hiding inside its territory

Islamabad, Feb.25 (ANI): Pakistan has rejected claims that Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden has taken refuge inside its territory.

A member of the National Assembly (NA), Sajid Hussain Turi, referring to a report which claimed that Laden was most likely hiding in the town of Parachinar in Kurram Agency, said that it was impossible for Laden to seek refuge in an area dominated by an anti-militant population.

"I strongly contradict the report, as Parachinar is completely different from other tribal areas with the majority of the population being Shias, community who are known as anti-Taliban," The Dawn quoted Turi, as saying.

Turi, who represents Kurram Agency in the National Assembly, said both Sunni and Shia communities were against any terror activities in the region.

Earlier, US geographer, Thomas Gillespie of the University of California-Los Angeles, suggested that Osama might be hiding in one of three compounds in Parachinar, a town 12 miles from the Afghan border.

Gillespie based his conclusion on night-time satellite readings and on public reports of Osama's habits and whereabouts. (ANI)
