SAD to seek ownership of HT if NDA comes back to power

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returns to power in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will attempt to regain ownership of the prominent newspaper Hindustan Times, which is currently owned by the Birlas, a website has claimed.

According to Politicsparty.com, the Akalis are very keen to regain the ownership of the Hindustan Times, which was first launched by Master Sunder Singh Lyallpuri.

Lyallpuri sold the newspaper to his friend Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya due to financial problems. Later, Malviya sold the Hindustan Times to industrialist Ghanshyamdas Birla, politicsparty.com claimed.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal is currently being advised by his family and party colleagues that what belongs to the Sikhs must be returned to the Sikhs, politicsparty.com concluded. (ANI)
