Condoleezza Rice 'inks memoir deal'
New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has signed a three-book deal with Crown Publishers, starting in 2011 with a memoir of her eight years under former U.S. President George W. Bush, it has emerged.
The first book is tentatively scheduled to appear in the autumn of 2011, Crown said in a statement, reports the China Daily.
The memoir would be followed a year later by a second book about her upbringing in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was born in 1954.
Random House Children's Books will simultaneously publish a young-adult edition of the family memoir.
Crown is a division of Random House, itself part of the German media giant Bertelsmann AG.
A foreign policy adviser during the administration of the first President Bush, Rice served as national security adviser and secretary of state under President George W. Bush.
Although often criticized as unduly loyal to the president and some of his policies, including the Iraq War, she is still regarded among publishers as more likable and less ideological than Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials. (ANI)
