Lalu to contest 2009 elections from Saran
Chapra (Bihar), Feb 23 (ANI): Union Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has declared that he will contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from the Saran constituency.
Delimitation of constituencies has led to a rechristening of the Chapra seat, currently represented by Lalu, as Saran.
While denouncing the communal policies of Bharatiya Janata Party, Lalu claimed that the people would welcome the "developmental" policies of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
He asserted that the BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani would never succeed.
He assured that the RJD, if given a chance in the coming polls, would support the Constitution Amendment Bill to give the poor classes the benefits of reservation. (ANI)
