Karunanidhi threatens to go on hunger strike

Chennai, Feb 23: To put an end to the ongoing clashes between lawyers and Police regarding Sri lankan Tamils issue, in Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M Karunanidhi has said that he would go on a hunger strike from his hospital bed if they did not resolve the issue.

"Whether I need to go on fast is based on the decision you take," Karunanidhi said in a statement in Chennai on Sunday, Feb 22 night.

Chennai Police Commissioner K Radhakrishnan has forwarded all details and documents regarding the clashes between the lawyers and the police personnel to the Central Bureau of Investigation to start a probe.

Over 200 lawyers have been arrested and cases against 300 people have been registered.

Despite chief Justice, K G Balakrishnan's request to the lawyers to return to work, lawyers have decided to boycott all courts indefinitely.
