Two LTTE planes drop bombs in Colombo

Colombo, Feb 21: The LTTE have made an attempt to prove their presence in Sri Lanka by dropping bombs from their planes on Friday, Feb 20 night by entering Colombo's airspace. They dropped a 30-kg bomb near Sri Lankan army headquarters injuring atleast 36 people.

One of the two aircrafts was shot down after the bombing. The other aircarft whisked away and could not be shot down. However, the other aircraft later bombed a government tax building and set it on fire, after which it was shot down.

Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara of the Sri Lankan Air Force said, “The situation is under control now. There was only one aircraft on the radar. There have been some casualties."
