Lahore, Feb 20 (ANI): The government in Pakistan's Punjab province has closed down two NATO supply facilities at Attock and Mianwali over security related fears.

NATO forces got oil and food supplies via Mianwali and NATO contingents used to stop for meals and rest at the camp near Musa Khel. This private spot was closed down on Thursday on the orders of District Police Officer Akbar Nasir Khan.

The Punjab Government also cancelled a private deal for a new NATO supply terminal.

"The deal stands cancelled," said Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The provincial government is neither considering such plan nor it will provide any space to the NATO, he added.

Sanaullah explained that a private logistic company had hired a 12-acre piece of land at the said place, which was being used as a rest area for NATO vehicles.

He further said that as the Punjab Government had not issued an NOC for the said purpose, it has directed the local government to close the rest area with immediate effect.

An MPA from Attock reported the presence of heavily armed militants and residents of troubled FATA and Swat in the district, urging the government to control their movement to avoid terrorism in Punjab.

Reports suggest that due to unrest in Dara Adam Khel area the NATO supply route was switched over from Indus highway to Muzaffargarh-Mianwali road for its onward destination of Peshawar, The Nation reported. (ANI)
