Former Union Minister Sukhram found guilty in disproportionate assets case
New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): A Delhi court on Friday ordered the conviction of former Union Communication Minister Sukhram in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on February 24.he court said, Sukhram, a cabinet colleague of Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, amassed disproportionate assets, both movable and immovable, to the tune of Rs 5.36 crore between 1991 and 1996.
The former Minister was not present in the court to hear the verdict as he was appearing in another criminal case pending in the Rohini District Court.
Special Judge V K Maheshwari reserved his judgment in the case on February 17 after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the former Minister's counsel wrapped up their arguments.
Meanwhile, Sukhram has claimed innocence saying that he was a victim of political rivalry between then Prime Ministers H D Deve Gowda and Rao. (ANI)
