London, Feb 18 (ANI): Billboard adverts emblazoned with the slogan "Want longer lasting sex?" have been labelled "crass and offensive" after receiving 522 complaints in the UK.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has advocates the complaints made against the Twickenham-based Advanced Medical Institute (AMI).

The ads offering treatment to men suffering from impotence and other sexual problems have been displayed across London, sometimes close to schools.

People have complained that these posters were inappropriate for public locations, especially near schools.

Parents have also spoken of embarrassment after their children had asked questions regarding the posters.A number of complainants pointed out to us that the sheer size of the message made it impossible to avoid, which they found very uncomfortable," Sky News quoted a spokeswoman for the ASA as saying.

"The nature of the advert shown on large billboards around London led to over 500 complaints from people who felt the ads were crass and offensive," she added.

ASA has also ruled that AMI had committed a second breach by indirectly advertising a prescription-only medicine.

However, impotence clinic has said it will appeal against the decision.

"It is clear we were not out to offend anyone - and we know from representative surveys that the majority of Britons are not offended by our ads," said AMI Europe's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Michael Spira. (ANI)
