Sydney, Feb.15 (ANI): Paedophiles and killers are enjoying yoga lessons and bottled water at the Long Bay Hospital in New South Wales, even as the Australian public health system continues to be deprived of basic medical supplies.

At the 130 million dollar forensic and prison hospital complex that was recently opened, Sydney gangster Arthur "Neddy" Smith enjoys these new facilities, besides playing ping-pong, working the treadmill and watching movies and other programs on wide screen televisions and DVDS in prison wards, The Sunday Telegraph reports.

Another paedophile Robert "Dolly" Dunn, 66, says he has access to daily deliveries of newspapers and magazines. The prisoners are also trained to cut each other's hair and have the services of a visiting qualified hairdresser.

The 85-bed prison hospital has five wards, including three for forensic patients, one for medical cases and another for aged and frail inmates. The wards are staffed by three nurses each and comprise several rooms for individual inmates with each "cell" containing a new portable TV.

Add to it all is the fact that the complex, which can house 135 prisoners, is fully air-conditioned.

Prison sources claim the facility is almost empty, with management unable to attract qualified staff, and security is questionable, with one patient alleged to have stabbed another with surgical scissors earlier this month. (ANI)
