Al-Qaeda, Taliban gaining support in Pakistan: Musharraf

Islamabad, Feb.15 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Parvez Musharraf has said that the Taliban, and Al-Qaeda's support has gradually been increasing in Pakistan.

Talking to media persons here, Musharraf said terrorism, and extremism posed a serious threat to security in the region.

He urged the present leadership of the country to ensure peace and take all necessary steps needed to thwart the challenge of militancy.

Commenting on the continuous US drone attacks in the tribal regions inside Pakistan's territory, he said the attacks were proving 'counter-productive' in the 'War on Terror'.

Musharraf also denied of any secret arrangement between the United States and Pakistan over the missile hits.

"There was no tacit agreement or understanding with the US to launch such attacks inside the country," The Daily Times quoted Musharraf, as saying.(ANI)
