Protesters clash with security forces in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 12 (ANI): Clashes erupted between protesters and paramilitary personnel in Srinagar on Thursday.

Chanting slogans a mob of irate protesters clashed with the security personnel at Maisuma market near the city centre Lal Chowk. They were demanding removal of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unit from one of the buildings in the locality.

The agitators turned violent and pelted stones on the police and paramilitary force personnel.

Police retaliated with firing of tear smoke shells and also resorted to baton charge in order to disperse the mob. Two persons were reportedly injured.

The people of Maisuma are demanding shifting of the CRPF camp from 'Aakhara' building following allegations of thrashing of shopkeepers and pedestrians by the CRPF personnel without any provocation on February 10.

The State Government has already ordered a probe headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police into the incident. (ANI)
