Obama gives first print media interview to Black Enterprise magazine

Washington, Feb.12 (ANI): Having given nine television interviews since he was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama has given his first interview to the print media.

According to Politico, the Black Enterprise magazine was the first off the block in this regard, getting to interview Obama on Monday afternoon. The interview is now up on their web site.

Derek Dingle, editor-in-chief of Black Enterprise, told Politico's Josh Gerstein that the magazine had requested an interview around inauguration and was contacted Saturday night by the White House press office.

Dingle reflected on the interview today, writing that the magazine was "given the opportunity, in part, because President Obama wanted to share his perspective about his American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to our readership." Black Enterprise, Dingle wrote, has been covering Obama for five years. ollowing Monday's prime-time press conference, the Washington Times Joe Curl wrote that Obama had snubbed the black press by not calling on reporters from two black-oriented media outlets seated in the front row.

Obviously, Black Enterprise had already been granted an interview before that flap. So as to whether he believes the black press was snubbed because of Monday's presser, Dingle said "absolutely not."

He added: "it was exciting to be in the room." (ANI)
