New Delhi, Feb 11: Union Small Scale Agro and Rural Industries Mahavir Prasad is named by Uttar Pradesh police as a co-accused in a murder case giving shock and embarrassment to UPA government. Police in Gorakhpur have filed a murder case against three people including Prasad, after the Allahabad High Court ordered the police to do so.

Prasad, a Congress MP, has been charged of involvement in the murder of one Ramprakat Singh, who was killed over a property dispute on January 28, 2008. Sources said that Mahavir Prasad allegedly used his influence to protect two people suspected of killing Ramprakat.

Instead of filing a murder case, Prasad allegedly got a case of accident registered against the two accused. The family of the murdered person challenged this in the Allahabad High Court.
