Leonard Cohen's 90k donation for Oz bushfire victims
London, Feb 11 (ANI): Leonard Cohen has donated a whopping 90,000 pounds to help the victims of bushfires in Australia.
The singer is currently on tour across Australia and had his final concert on February 9 in Melbourne.
And according to his tour promoter, Michael Gudinski, the star believes that the contribution would go some way to aiding those in need.
Reports suggest that over 181 people have died and nearly 1,000 homes have been destroyed in the bushfires, which have ravaged the state of Victoria.
"Leonard has loved his time in Australia on this tour and is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the fires," The BBC quoted Gudinski as saying.
He also said that Cohen and his touring party wished to extend "their heartfelt sympathies to those that have suffered the loss of loved ones or their homes through this terrible tragedy".
In fact, Cohen also conducted a charity bucket collection at his concert at the Rod Laver Arena, which was the 73-year-old singer's third concert in the state during the current tour. (ANI)
