Four ships damage a bridge in Surat, no casualties reported
Surat, Feb 11 (ANI): A bridge connecting various industries in Surat was damaged after being hit accidentally by four ships on Wednesday.
The Magdalla-Hazira bridge on the Tapti river in the state bore the brunt of the collision after four ships of the AGB shipyard hit it.
No casualties were reported in the incident that took place at around 3:00 a.m.
The authorities have stopped the flow of traffic while the investigation is on.
"The stability of the bridge will have to be checked by the authorities. 100 meter railings of the bridge has damaged after being hit by four ships. The footpath has also suffered damage, but the concerned authorities will check the severity. For safety reasons, we have stooped the flow of traffic on it," said G. M Kotawala, chief fire officer, Surat Municipal Corporation.
Surat city is a major commercial and industrial hub in the Gujarat. (ANI)
