Chidambaram lashes out Modi on "local link" remark
New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, on Wednesday lashed out at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over his controversial remark about a 'local link' in the Mumbai attacks.
"Since Pakistan and Modi are saying the same thing on Mumbai attacks, someone please ask Modi if he and Pakistan are in contact with each other," Chidambaram said.
Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) National Council meeting on February 8 Modi had said, "The smallest of person knows that such a big attack is not possible without the local support...I want to know who is stopping them from taking action...This is because of vote bank politics."
However, on Wednesday he clarified his statement saying that he has been quoted out of context.
BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley also supported Modi saying that his statement was a clear effort to go to the roots of the conspiracy to find if there was any local logistic support provided to the attackers. (ANI)
