Chatterjee expresses regret over UP Andhra assemblies ruckus

New Delhi, Feb 11 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, on Wednesday, expressed great regret over the ruckus during the joint session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

"Wherever it is, I do not want to mention any assembly, wherever it happens, it is extremely painful, extremely worrisome. It does not help strengthening of democracy. On the other hand, it weakens our democratic structure," Chatterjee told reporters.

The Uttar Pradesh budget session on February 10 had to be adjourned after Samajwadi Party members started throwing files and held up a black cloth in protest over the alleged murder of Public Works Department engineer M K Gupta at the behest of Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Shekhar Tiwari.

Just after a day, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly too had to be suspended after the opposition MLAs raised a hue and cry over Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's alleged links with former Satyam Computers Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju. (ANI)
