Buddhadeb calls for the Third Front to fight Congress, BJP
Kolkata, Feb 9 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has asked the people to elect neither the Congress nor the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but to vote for a Third Front which will actually care for the welfare of the people.
"We want neither BJP nor Congress in New Delhi. We want a Government which will actually think about welfare of the farmers, and one which has an independent foreign policy," said Buddhadeb while addressing a public rally here on Sunday.
However, he did not clarify about the constituents of the proposed Third Front in which the leftists intend to be in the forefront.
At the rally, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) launched the Left Front's campaign for the upcoming elections.
According to the Election Commission of India, the elections to the Parliament may be held sometime between April 8 and May 15. (ANI)
