Doctors to remove PM's stitches on Feb 8
New Delhi, Feb 8: Sources said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's stitches will be removed on Sunday, Feb 8. Pm will also undergo a complete health check-up. Dr Ramakant Panda from the Asian Heart Institute will remove Dr Singh's incisions at his official 7, Race Course Road residence.
The doctors have only allowed Singh's family members and some key officials to meet him until his surgical incisions are completely healed. Manmohan Singh who is recovering after a coronary bypass surgery, is being constantly attended to by his personal physicians Dr Nitish Naik, Dr Ambuj Roy and Dr Sandeep Seth.
Singh is presently undergoing cardiac rehabilitation under the guidance of Asian Heart Institute's Dr Ashish Contractor. Pm was discharged from hospital on Feb 1. He started performing some of his duties shortly after this from his residence. He is expected to fully resume his work from Fen 22 onwards.
Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Jan 24, where an angiography-X-ray examination of the blood vessels was conducted on him. He also underwent several blood chemistry tests, CT scan and ECG, which affirmed five arterial blockages in the heart.
Reports suggest that Manmohan Singh opted for immediate surgery as he wanted to be ready and fully active before the coming Lok Sabha Polls. Dr Singh's diet has been supplemented with a high intake of carbohydrates and protein. He has also been advised to follow a strict exercise regimen to keep control of his diabetes.
He had earlier undergone cardiac bypass surgery in 1990 and an angioplasty in 2004.
