Vajpayee put on mechanical ventilator support at AIIMS

New Delhi, Feb.6 (ANI): The health condition of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee deteriorated on Friday, and doctors had to put him on "mechanical ventilation".

According to a latest medical bulletin released by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) this evening, Vajpayee continues to have lower respiratory tract infection, which has worsened since the morning. He is being monitored by a team of doctors.

Vajpayee's other basic parameters including, his blood pressure, liver and kidney functions were normal, said doctors.

A team of doctors headed by Dr. Sampath Kumar, the head of the Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Sciences Department of AIIMS, is keeping a track on the health of the BJP leader.

Vajpayee was admitted to the AIIMS on February 3, after he complained of high fever and chest pain. (ANI)
