Nepal Cabinet decides to promulgate three ordinances
Kathmandu, Feb 6 (ANI): Despite strong opposition from the Nepali Congress (NC), the Nepal cabinet has decided to promulgate three ordinances.
The meeting held at Prime Minster's office on Thursday introduced the ordinances on constituting a high-level commission on the disappeared, making public service inclusive and amendment to the regulation for voters' list for the upcoming by-election.
The cabinet promulgated the ordinances after forging a common agreement between the CPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML, though the ruling CPN-UML earlier had been demanding for an in-depth discussion on the ordinances on making public service inclusive and commission on the disappeared and that the opposition party should be brought onboard for the same. arlier, the cabinet meeting was postponed for the third consecutive time as the ruling coalition partners remained divided on whether to promulgate new ordinances.
After the government brought in three new ordinances last week, both UML and the Nepali Congress came down heavily upon the Maoist-led coalition saying that the it was undemocratic to promulgate ordinances without tabling it at the parliament for discussion, Kantipur reported. (ANI)
