BBC star Jeremy Clarkson calls Gordon Brown 'a one-eyed Scottish idiot'

London, Feb 06 (ANI): BBC's Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson has launched a scathing attack on British PM Gordon Brown describing him as 'a one-eyed Scottish idiot'.

The cruel attack on the PM, who has a glass eye, came as Clarkson launched a stage version of the hit show in Australia.

He laid into Brown after saying he had not been as honest about the world financial crisis as Australia's PM Kevin Rudd. Clarkson, 48, said he had watched Rudd on TV addressing the nation.

"It's the first time I've ever seen a world leader admit we really are in deep s**t - he genuinely looked terrified," the Mirror quoted Clarkson, as saying.

"Poor man, he's actually seen the books. We have this one-eyed Scottish idiot who keeps telling us everything's fine and he's saved the world and we know he's lying, but he's smooth at telling us," he added.

Brown was not Clarkson's only target.

The BBC presenter also described British Top Gear fans as "apes" and even said it did not matter if the show's motorbike stuntmen were killed because they were French.

The stage show, called Top Gear Live, is on a world tour - taking in Hong Kong, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

In Sydney, Clarkson and Hammond have been joined on stage by Steve Pizzati, host of Top Gear Australia.

A rep for Clarkson has said that he had no comment about his Gordon Brown remarks.

A Top Gear spokeswoman laughed off his "apes" insult.

"Top Gear is known for its tone. The presenters take the mickey out of each other and the studio audience aren't immune from that," she said. (ANI)
