Muthalik gets three bails in a week
Virajpet, Feb 2: Pramod Muthalik who was arrested by Madikeri police on Saturday Jan 31 for his provocative speech was granted bail by a court in Virajpet, on Monday, Feb 2.
Principal Sessions Judge R Ashok asked Muthalik to furnish a bond of Rs one lakh and a surety of the like sum. Counsel for Muthalik, M B Nanaiah argued to grant bail to his client.
His speech at the Hindu Samajotsav in Gonikoppal in Dec 2003 had provocative elements which is the cause for his arrest on Jan 31 by Virajpet police. Though a case was field he had not responded to warrants issued since then.
This is the third case in which Muthalik had been granted bail in the last one week. Muthalik was first arrested by the Belgaum police on Jan 27 in connection with a case for distributing pamphlets with provocative slogans in Davanagere on Jan 4.
After he was granted bail in the case, a police team from Mangalore re-arrested Muthalik on Jan 28 in connection with the recent attack on a pub.
Muthalik was again arrested by Madikeri police on Jan 31 in the December 2003 case soon after he was granted conditional bail by a Mangalore court in the pub attack case.
