Obama backs Pittsburgh Steelers to win Super Bowl

Washington, Jan. 30 (ANI): President Barack Obama believes the Pittsburgh Steelers will defeat the Arizona Cardinals in Sunday's Super Bowl.

I wish the Cardinals the best, Obama said at a meeting on Thursday afternoon with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, noting that Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner was closer to his age than anyone on the field, politico reported.

Obama pointed out that Steelers president Art Rooney II had backed him in the presidential campaign, so he felt honor bound to back the Pennsylvania city team.

"But I am a longtime Steelers fan," Obama said, "Mr. Rooney, the owner, was just an extraordinary supporter during the course of the campaign."

Though Obama appreciated 'underdog' Cardinals but he said his heart supported the Steelers.

"You know, I wish the best to the Cardinals, they've been long-suffering, it's a great Cinderella story, but ... Other than the Bears, the Steelers are probably the team that's closest to my heart, " he said.

Winning the Super Bowl is the ultimate for an NFL player, but the winning team will reap an extra reward -- a trip to meet Obama at the White House. (ANI)
